In my humble opinion September is one of the nicest months to be living in the great state of Ohio. The air is crisp and cool ,the sky is blue and the harvest is in.
The month of September also has several holidays not always associated with gifts of flowers. The first is Labor Day celebrated on the first Monday in September to honor the American working man . Most people associate it with the end of summer and the start of the football season. Some people have a picnic with friends or family. If you’re invited to a picnic this year why not stop at your local florist and pick up a wrapped bouquet for your hostess ? It’ll make her day.
Sundown on September 9th starts Rosh Hashanah also called Jewish New Year. Arrangement in springy colors are appropriate because the holiday honors the creation of the universe. Blue and white, the colors of the Israeli flag are also good .
Nine Eleven (Sept 11th) is Patriot’s Day. Set aside after the attack on New York’s World Trade Towers so Americans would remember not to take their freedoms for granted.
Grandparent’s Day is Sunday September 12th to honor seniors. Why not take your favorite adopted or blood Grandparent a Teleflora Flower Garden or Tuscan Garden both in a sweet terra cotta flower pot.
Hi everyone! Summer is here and so is wedding season.
Almost a year ago now, we had a weekend in which we did three different weddings. It was pretty exhausting, but it all went off without a hitch. Over the course of the weekend, I took some photos of the preparation and the product.
Take a look:
Look at me all prepared with a list.
I think it is clear what is inside.
We sliced them and slid them down into the vases for a funky look.
Pam at her lemon cutting station.
For this wedding, the delphinium was perfect!
And a boatload of lisianthus it was.
The colors all look so nice together.
Some more of the flowers we were using.
I don’t know why these photos came out so fuzzy. Seriously, it’s like I managed to capture the elusive Bucket O’ Gerberas in the wilds of the back cooler.
These are the centerpieces for a different wedding that weekend. The bride picked out the colors, flowers, vases, ribbons, and design style; we just put it together.
Aww, look at their happy little faces!
Boutonnière for groomsmen.
Boutonnière for the groom.
Tricky little corsage on a pearl wristband.
Pam hard at work on the bouquets.
Getting ready to make the unity candle.
Making centerpieces at Bonnie’s desk.
Room full of people making centerpieces.
Making sure they are all taped up properly.
Now the corsages for the mothers and grandmothers.
Flowers for the blessed mother and so forth.
Us getting ready to set up at the reception hall.
The short arrangements all set up and ready.
And the tall arrangements too.
We hung forty of those votives. Whew! Awfully pretty when lit up though.
Entranceway again. (I tried to hide behind the vase, but you can still see my legs.)
The head table. The bridesmaids put their bouquets into the vases to held keep them fresh through the evening.
Here we are all ready to go! (sans the ladder of course)
Here’s hoping this summer is just as much fun!
How do you feel about passing gifts you can’t use on to someone else?
A great way to use something that’s nice but maybe just doesn’t fit into your life or personal style anymore is to add it to flowers.
We have added flowers to our customer’s lead crystal and ceramic vases . You know those Christmas village houses? We have placed those inside unique arrangements.Almost any Christmas or everyday gift or container can be used.
So bring in that old candy dish that your Aunt Martha admired and get it made into a beautiful gift you can take over to her holiday party this year!

I just got my Trumbull County edition of the new Embarq phone book. I looked up Florist in the yellow pages . Yes, I’m nosy like that. I was disappointed to see that the first page of complete listings were from out of town order brokers.
This is an example of how it works: A person in Cortland ( for example) calls the 800 number for one of these OG’s to send flowers to her friend at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. The Order Gatherer ( who could be located in Utah or Timbuktu)takes a cut of the order and passes it along to a wire service like bloomnet , FTD etc. who take another chunk of dough and lastly they send it along to a real local florist like us . We make the arrangement and deliver it out of what money is left.
Why not cut out the middleman and send it to a real local florist in the first place? Look for a listing with a real local address and phone number. Don’t be fooled.
Victory at Home!
